Kaizer Chiefs’ expected starting 11 vs Magesi
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Betway Premiership rookies Magesi FC host Kaizer Chiefs at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday 15 April at 19:30.

This article looks at Amakhosi’s expected team changes after playing just two days ago in their 2-0 win over TS Galaxy at the FNB Stadium, with goals from Flavio Silva and Glody Lilepo.

EXPECTED KAIZER CHIEFS STARTING LINE UP

To manage fitness and avoid injuries at this stage of the season, expect Amakhosi to rotate, especially in the most demanding positions, full-backs and midfield.

Dillan Solomons and Peseka Mako could come in for Thabiso Monyane and Bradley Cross. In midfield, Lebohang Maboe may be given a well-earned rest, with Sibongiseni Mthethwa likely to slot into the number six role, a good fit on a smaller pitch like the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Siphesihle Ndlovu should still be fresh enough to start again after missing plenty of action in recent weeks. Up front, Khanyisa Mayo has returned to full fitness to start wide, with his cut-ins to shoot and direct style well suited to the narrow pitch. Wandile Duba should be introduced as an impact substitution after starting the previous three games following a long spell out.

Full line up to expect: Goalkeeper: Brandon Petersen, right back: Dillan Solomons, right central defender: Given Msimango, left central defender: Aden McCarthy, left back: Paseka Mako, defensive midfielder: Sibongiseni Mtethwa, central midfielder: Siphesihle Ndlovu, attacking midfielder: Mduduzi Shabalala, right winger: Khanyisa Mayo, left-winger: Glody Lilepo, striker: Flavio Silva.

WHY MAGESI AND AMAKHOSI ARE MEETING AGAIN SO SOON?

Kaizer Chiefs and Magesi FC are set to face each other again in the Betway Premiership just 25 days after their last meeting. A quick turnaround caused by earlier fixture changes.

The original clash was scheduled for November 2025. It had to be postponed due to Kaizer Chiefs’ involvement in the CAF Confederation Cup. That forced the league to reshuffle the calendar. Bringing the return fixture into April and leaving the two sides meeting again in a short space of time.

The last encounter came on 21 March 2026. Amakhosi ran out comfortable 2-0 winners at Moses Mabhida Stadium. Goals from academy products Wandile Duba and Mfundo Vilakazi made the difference.

This midweek clash now stands alone as the only Betway Premiership fixture, and it arrives with pressure on both teams, just in very different situations.

Kaizer Chiefs come into the game full of confidence. They are on a four-match winning run, including Sunday’s 2-0 win over TS Galaxy. And have tightened their grip on third place, which keeps them on track for CAF Confederation Cup qualification.

Magesi, meanwhile, are fighting for survival. Bottom of the table on 17 points, this is a must-win situation for them.

A victory could lift them out of the relegation zone and above Orbit College and Marumo Gallants, who are both sitting on 19 points.
