Relebohile Mofokeng could be entering the final stretch of his Orlando Pirates career, with just seven matches potentially remaining in Buccaneers colours.

The 21-year-old playmaker has enjoyed a sensational rise since making his debut in 2023, contributing over 30 goals for the Soweto giants.

During that time, he has lifted six trophies and established himself as one of the standout performers in the Premier Soccer League.

After a slow start to the current campaign, Mofokeng found top form following the 2025 AFCON tournament. He has since been in scintillating touch, scoring nine goals in 2026 and adding three assists.

Mofokeng is Pirates best player by far

His performances have not gone unnoticed, earning him the Betway Premiership Player of the Month award for both February and March. He is now widely considered a leading contender for the PSL Player of the Season accolade.

The youngster headed into the FIFA international break on a high, netting his first senior hat-trick before following it up with a brace against Golden Arrows.

With only seven fixtures left this season for Pirates, speculation around his (Mofokeng) future continues to intensify. Mofokeng has been linked with moves abroad for the past two years, but no deal materialised.

However, after what is shaping up to be his best season yet, a move overseas now appears increasingly likely, especially with the FIFA World Cup on the horizon, which could further boost his value and visibility in Europe.

Speaking about his preferred role, Mofokeng highlighted where he feels most effective on the pitch.

“I think the style we play here at Pirates suits me as a number 10,” he said after Bucs 5-0 win over Golden Arrows.

“I’m not really someone who likes running a lot. I prefer operating in tight spaces.

“So I think the number 10 position is best for me. I can also play on the wing, but my strongest position is as a 10.”

Orlando Pirates supporters might not know it yet but this last seven games could very well be Mofokeng’s farewell tour as he is destined with a big move.

Which league should Rele move to?
