Orlando Pirates winger Kamogelo Sebelebele has expressed being filled with joy after their Soweto Derby win over arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs.
The Buccaneers romped to an emphatic 3-0 victory at FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon to open up a three-point gap over second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns.
Pirates took the lead as early as the fourth minute through Tshepang Moremi’s deflected shot before Oswin Appollis doubled the lead in the 39th minute.
The visitors picked up from where they left off in the second period as Evidence Makgopa put the match beyond doubt with the third goal of the match in the 78th minute for bragging rights and maximum points.
Sebelebele walked away with the man of the match award on the afternoon and emphasized how they had to bounce back after suffering two defeats prior to the derby.
“Today’s [Saturday] game was very important seeing that we come from two defeats,” he told OP TV.
“Today we had to head up and focus on today’s game because it’s a big game in South Africa and we had to make our supporters happy.
“The nerves are always there but once you get into the ground, it’s a man’s game whether it’s a big game or not.
“I also play for Orlando Pirates, so I have to be switched on at all times because each and every game is important at Orlando Pirates.”
“I’m very happy. First half wasn’t easy, but my derby had to be a win and we won.”
