Pirates Give Mbule & de Jong Boost For Casric Tie

Posted on February 20, 2026

Orlando Pirates have provided an update that midfielder Sipho Mbule and Andre de Jong could be handed starts in Saturday’s Nedbank Cup.

The Buccaneers are seeking redemption after suffering defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in the Betway Premiership on Wednesday night.

Brayan León Muñiz bagged a brace as the defending champions saw off Pirates 2-1 at FNB Stadium while Patrick Maswanganyi netted the consolation for the hosts.

Abdeslam Ouaddou’s charges thus missed out on the chance to extend their lead at the summit of the log to nine points as their 14-match unbeaten streak came to an end.

The gap between the two sides now sits at just three points with Sundowns having a game in hand.

On Friday afternoon, Pirates confirmed their team news ahead of their Nedbank Cup Last 16 Round fixture against Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit Casric Stars.

“There could be some reshuffling of the pack ahead of the fixture with Sipho Mbule and Andre de Jong among those that could feature in the with a chance of being drafted into the starting lineup after featuring on the bench in midweek,” the club said on their official website.

Pirates take on Casric at the Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday with the match kicking off at 18:00.
