Kaizer Chiefs top bosses take major decision on star man

Posted on February 20, 2026

Kaizer Chiefs FC have reportedly opened talks with a key first-team player over a new contract at the club.

The Glamour Boys have enjoyed a hot-and-cold season thus far.

Effectively, Chiefs are out of all cup competitions. However, they remain in the league title race albeit with an outside chance.

One shining light this season however has been goalkeeper Brandon Petersen. And now, he looks set to be rewarded for his solid form at the club.

Kaizer Chiefs bosses open talks with Petersen

Negotiations over a long-term new contract are underway between Kaizer Chiefs and Brandon Petersen.

Petersen joined the club in 2021 and after a slow start to life at Naturena, he’s now firing on all cyclinders.

This season alone, the towering keeper has kept 15 clean-sheets for the club.

Now, according to new reports, Kaizer Chiefs are planning to reward their captain for his performances on the field of play.

“SABC Sport has established that Kaizer Chiefs have begun talks to offer captain Brandon Petersen a fresh long-term contract, as the club moves to secure one of their most consistent performers,” the publication reported.

Amakhosi’s goalkeeping situation

The Glamour Boys currently have Petersen, Fiacre Ntwari and Bruce Bvuma on their books.

Youngster Karabo Molefe has been loaned for the remainder of the season.

With Petersen’s looming extension at Kaizer Chiefs, Ntwari may very well push for a move away from the club at the end of the campaign.
