Cardoso – I Never Treated Masha Badly

Posted on February 14, 2026

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has hit back at suggestions that he treated technical team member Mario Masha badly amidst the recent suspension of the club analyst.

Sundowns, who have yet to make an official statement, suspended Masha last week amidst allegations of leaking tactical and confidential information with former head coach Rulani Mokwena, now in charge of MC Alger.

The two sides face off on Saturday in a must-win clash for either side, to progress to the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League.

Mokwena, who opened the press conferences this afternoon, denied that there were any current Sundowns tactics discussed with Masha and when Cardoso was asked whether more transparency on the situation from Masandawana would be better he stated it’s not up to him.

“I want people to understand that I did not treat him [Mario] bad, because I read that I treated him bad and that is not true, I gave him a lot of love, consideration and promotion, that is just what I wanted to clarify, nothing more,” Cardoso said.

“I just need to make you understand, I have character and I’m a very [straight] as a person, I don’t treat people badly. I don’t want the fans from Sundowns to think I manage [as a] tyrant – and I don’t treat everyone with maximum respect at Chlookop.

“Regarding the club position [to clarify with a statement] it’s not up to me, with all respect, I respect the club too much to answer the question, you need to understand, the club understands as well that it is a process.

“For sure, in the right moment, the club will speak – but the club knows when to speak, there’s a lot of people with a high level of responsibility and commitment that knows very well how to do the things – we need to do things the right way. And in Sundowns, we do the things the right way – that is it.”
