Khanyiso Mayo’s agent on Algeria stint

Kaizer Chiefs may have to decide whether to sign striker Khanyisa Mayo on a permanent deal or return him to CR Belouizdad.

Mayo transferred from Cape Town City for a fee of around R20 million in 2024, but he has struggled for form in Algeria, scoring only four goals in 27 appearances for Belouizdad.

In September 2025, the 27-year-old striker returned to South Africa and joined Kaizer Chiefs, one of his father’s former clubs, on a year-long loan.

Although he scored on his debut for Amakhosi, the former Richards Bay forward has had difficulty finding his rhythm at Naturena.

According to Phakaathi, if his performance doesn’t improve, the striker could leave Kaizer Chiefs at the end of the season. The Soweto giants could still sign the attacker if they see an improvement.

“The problem is that Khanyisa has not offered the club much since joining them. He was seen as a solution upfront, considering his record in the PSL before moving to Algeria, but the reality is that he is not the same goal poacher,” a source told the publication

“So, the club now has two options. To sign him permanently and hope that he regains his scoring touch or to send him back to Algeria, and that’s where the management is undecided,” the source added.

Will Kaizer Chiefs might just sign Mayo

Amakhosi have at least five strikers in their team but only Flavio Da Silva has shown good form upfront. With one year still left in his contract, Mayo might not cost Chiefs as much.

A few good games in the next few months might see him stay with the Glamour Boys, irrespective of his scoring form.

Kaizer Chiefs are in action this weekend against Zamalek in the CAF Confederation Cup, looking to secure a quarter-final spot.

Should Mayo’s move to Naturena become permanent?
