Tau Finally Off The Mark In Asia

Posted on February 10, 2026

Forgotten Bafana Bafana striker Percy Tau finally opened his account for Vietnamese LP Bank V.League 1 outfit Thep Xanh Nam Dinh in their 1-1 draw at home against Hong Linh Ha Tinh on Monday afternoon.

The 31-year-old sealed a surprise move to the Asian country on a free transfer after leaving Qatar SC in August 2025.

‘The Lion of Judah’ has had a slow start to life in Asia but seems to be finding his scoring touch after starting the match and opening the scoring just four minutes in.

The hosts looked like they were heading for maximum points, but the visitors left it late with Albertino Joao Pereira Balotelli netting a 98th-minute equalizer for a share of the spoils.

There was once again no sign of his South African compatriot Njabulo Blom who has struggled to cement his place at the Vietnamese side.

Tau has featured in 17 matches since making the switch to Nam Dinh providing three assists with a single goal.
