Kaizer Chiefs player’s younger brother joins Amakhosi

Posted on February 3, 2026

Kaizer Chiefs continue to strengthen their development structures, with the club welcoming Emile Dortley into their academy camp ahead of preparations for the 2026 Gauteng Development League (GDL) season.

The 16-year-old is the younger brother of first-team defender and Bafana Bafana international Rushwin Dortley, and is already beginning to draw attention in his own right.

Emile was spotted as part of the Kaizer Chiefs academy group currently in camp as Amakhosi plan for the next phase of youth football.

Like his older brother, Emile is a defender by trade. He is left-footed and comfortable operating both as a central defender and at left-back.

Before joining Kaizer Chiefs, Emile was developed at Cape Town Spurs, the same academy system that played a key role in shaping Rushwin’s early career. His performances at youth level have marked him as one of the more promising defenders in his age group.

That promise was underlined in 2025 when Emile was named Player of the Tournament at the Bayview Youth Tournament, after playing a central role in Cape Town Spurs lifting the trophy.

KAIZER CHIEFS ACADEMY PRODUCTION

In the meantime, the Naturena academy has recently uncovered Thulani Mabaso as the latest promotion to the senior team.

He follows a long list that has included the likes of Bruce Bvuma, Happy Mashiane, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Njabulo Blom, Samkelo Zwane, Wandile Duba, Mduduzi Shabalala, Mfundo Vilakazi, Donay Jansen, and Naledi Hlongwane, among others.
