Orlando Pirates coach reveals one thing he wants to see

Posted on February 1, 2026

Orlando Pirates cruised to a 2–0 win on Saturday night, yet coach Ouaddou left the pitch side convinced his side should have scored far more.

Yanela Mbuthuma and Relebohile Mofokeng struck in the first half to settle the contest early, after showing complete control and dominance.

ADBESLAM OUADDOU DEMANDS MORE GOALS FROM ORLANDO PIRATES

It was the team’s first victory at the newly renamed home ground, and Ouaddou was pleased with how his players carried out the plan.

“I’m just happy about the points, the victory was important, in front of our fans for the first game at (renamed) home,” Ouaddou told SuperSport TV.

“I think guys were executed the plan, we wanted to press them to open them very high, not to let them breathe in terms of counter-pressing, not to leave space,” the French-Moroccan added.

The Orlando Pirates coach felt his side consistently found dangerous positions but lacked the final punch. For him, that’s now the next step.

“We achieved it well, in terms of entries in the last third, I think it was top but we need to see the data, but we made a lot of entries, opportunities in that case I think we have to definitely improve in that area because maybe we could’ve scored six goals today.”

Despite the missed chances, Ouaddou was quick to praise his squad’s attitude and togetherness, stressing that details like goals and goal difference could matter later in the season.

“Every point, goal will be important at the end of the season that’s why I’m very happy about the boys I have, I congratulate them but I have a little bit a test we could’ve scored a lot more, but let’s keep going, let’s keep going, I think the guys did well.”

Ouaddou added to point to the collective effort as the biggest positive, explaining that the foundation of the team has been built around unity and togetherness from the very start of the campaign.

He said the players worked as a unit to win the ball back, noting that the commitment and coordination shown across the pitch reflected the principles they have been training every day.
