Pirates Opens Up Huge Lead At Top & Chiefs Stumble

Posted on January 31, 2026

Orlando Pirates have opened up a seven-point lead at the summit of the DStv Diski Challenge table after beating Sekhukhune United 2-1 on Saturday morning.

The Buccaneers’ serious title challenge is starting to eventually take shape after 17 matches.

Defending champions Kaizer Chiefs have now gone winless in their last two matches after playing to a 0-0 draw against TS Galaxy. This has now left Amakhosi in fifth position and with a huge mountain to climb if they are to defend their crown.

Stellenbosch FC picked up the biggest result on Saturday as they ran riot over Magesi FC hammering them 4-1 in the other fixture on the day. Stellies move into second position though this could change should Mamelodi Sundowns win their game in hand.

All Saturday results:

Kaizer Chiefs 0-0 TS Galaxy
Orlando Pirates 2-1 Sekhukhune United
Stellenbosch FC 4-1 Magesi FC
Richards Bay – Golden Arrows (tbc)
