Kaizer Chiefs have moved up the Betway Premiership table into second place, overtaking rivals Orlando Pirates.
Amakhosi started with intent, showing early hunger and pushing Gallants onto the back foot from the opening whistle.

Just two minutes in, Glody Lilepo had the first real sight of goal but rushed his effort wide. Moments later, Asanele Velebayi lit up the attack with a powerful run and thunderous shot that flew just high and wide.
Gallants eventually found their rhythm. In the ninth minute, Sekela Sithole rose to meet a cross with a firm header, but Brandon Petersen was equal to it. The visitors tried again soon after, but Kaizer Chiefs’ defensive line recovered well under pressure.
The game opened up into an end-to-end contest, with both sides launching attacks. Amakhosi came close again in the 24th minute when Thabiso Monyane found himself in space, but his shot sailed over the bar despite Lilepo waiting unmarked inside the box.
A bumpy pitch played a major role throughout the match, disrupting rhythm and turning simple passes into hopeful balls.
After the break, Kaizer Chiefs came out with two early attacks, but shots continued to miss the target. The best chance of the game arrived in the 50th minute when Khanyisa Mayo found space inside the box, only to misconnect at the crucial moment.
Two minutes later, Lebohang Maboe produced the most fluid passage of play of the night. A loose second ball sat up perfectly for him, and his low half-volley drew a superb save from Washington Arubi.

Then came the breakthrough. In the 66th minute, Lilepo delivered a moment of magic, unleashing a spectacular strike that curled into the far corner from the right wing. Whether it was a shot or a cross, it won’t matter. It’s a goal-of-the-season contender.
Gallants pushed hard late on, creating two dangerous chances, but Petersen stood tall with confident saves. Kaizer Chiefs had opportunities to kill the game off, yet poor decision-making in the box kept the scoreline tight.
In the end, Amakhosi held their nerve to secure all three points, their third consecutive 1–0 win after edging Golden Arrows and ZESCO United.
