The former Ajax Cape Town, Kaizer Chiefs, Bidvest Wits, and Polokwane City midfielder ends after 313 matches in senior football.
The Mitchells Plain-born Alexander also represented Bafana Bafana at senior level, earning six caps.
OFF THE FIELD CHAPTERS
Soon before this announcement, the former SuperSport United midfielder grinder joined Elite Soccer Coaching Academy (ESCA) in Sandton. There, he has worked alongside former Kaizer Chiefs teammates Morgan Gould and Virgil Vries.
“After nearly two decades in professional football, today I officially announce my retirement,” he stated on social media.
“Although I didn’t want my career to end the way my last season went, I’ve learned that not everything is in our control. That final chapter and the environment I was in, doesn’t define the journey I’ve been blessed to live,” he added.

“This is for the fans, supporters, and loved ones who’ve been with me through it all, even when you might have already sensed this day was coming. Thank you for nearly 20 years of belief and love,” Alexander continued.
He concluded to reveal that football gave him more than he ever felt he deserved, including lessons, brotherhood, purpose, and lifelong memories.
MOVES ABROAD AFTER KAIZER CHIEFS
Alexander’s time abroad was short. In the 2020/21 season, he joined Odisha FC in the Indian Super League, playing 15 games, which included three goals.
After leaving Kaizer Chiefs in 2023, Alexander lived his European dream. He joined Helsingborgs IF in Sweden’s Superettan where he made seven appearances, scored once and created three assists.
