Chiefs coach after away win

Posted on January 26, 2026

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Khalil Ben Youssef has emphasised that Amakhosi’s goal was to get three points against Zesco United in Zambia.

Pule Mmodi’s early goal gave the Soweto giants all three points to get their CAF Confederation Cup journey on track. They now have four points after three games and another win over the Zambian side will put them in a good position to reach the quarter finals.

“It was a physical game. For us the target, we came for three points, we didn’t come to play great football or to enjoy, we came for three points,” Ben Youssef told SABC Sport.

The Kaizer Chiefs co-coach felt his side deserved to win even though the pitch was tough to play on.

“I think we deserve to win this game, we deserve the three points. The pitch made it difficult for us.

“Maybe it’s easier for ZESCO United, who play long balls, for us we play a technical game, we play short passes, we make the progression with short passes.

“Unfortunately, today with this pitch it was difficult to play our football, so we were playing another football. We are not a physical team, we are a technical team,” added the Tunisian.

Kaizer Chiefs coach happy win away win

Ben Youssef made it clear that the three points was the main goal and his players fought hard to return home with three points.

“That made it more difficult for us, it was only long balls… I have to say congratulations for the players. We said we come for three points, we don’t come to play, we come to win.

“That’s why I have to say congratulations to the players how they played, how they fight. They deserve it,” said the Chiefs coach.
