Velebayi On Legal Battles Before Chiefs Move

Posted on January 22, 2026

Kaizer Chiefs winger Asanele Velebayi says he doesn’t want to dwell on the legal battles before joining Amakhosi.

A dream delay is not a dream denied, Velebayi was supposed to have made his Chiefs debut weeks before he made it but there were legal battles behind the scenes between his camp and Cape Town Spurs.

The 23-year old remained stronger than all people thought as when he was confirmed to play for Chiefs, he hit the ground running without showing a signs of high stress levels.

The Eastern Cape born didn’t want to speak about the behind the scenes legal battles instead expressed his excitement to be at Chiefs and also how grateful he is.

“For me, I think it’s pretty obvious, I’ve always wanted to play for this club, but I can just be grateful that I’m finally here,” Velebayi told the media.

“I don’t want to, like speak too much on what has happened in the past with illegal cases. I’m just grateful to be here.

“I’m just happy that it finally happened. So for me is, I don’t want to talk too much about the talks outside. The main job for me is to focus on here.”
