Official: Richards Bay Sign Former AmaZulu Defender

Posted on January 22, 2026

Richard Bay have reinforced their team by securing the services of former AmaZulu FC defender Thembela Sikhakhane.

The veteran defender has been a free agent following his departure from Usuthu at the end of the previous campaign.

His exit from the Durban-based outfit followed an eight-season spell, having initially joined from Orlando Pirates on loan in 2017 before making the move permanent in 2020.

He went on to make 175 appearances in the AmaZulu green shirt, contributing two goals and seven assists.

The Natal Rich Boyz officially unveiled him on Tuesday after he spent the past few weeks training with the club.

“Richards Bay Football Club would like to announce the signing of Thembela Sikhakhane,” the club announced on social media.

He joins Richards Bay as his fourth PSL club, having previously turned out for AmaZulu, Orlando Pirates, and Golden Arrows.

The club has further strengthened their ranks with the acquisition of Ugandan forward Joel Madondo from Nsingizini Hotspurs in Eswatini.
