Modiba Makes Honest Admission About Saleng

Posted on January 17, 2026

Mamelodi Sundowns left-back Aubrey Modiba has shared his hopes regarding the club’s recent acquisition, Monnapule Saleng.

The left-footer was a surprise acquisition for Sundowns, having spent the first six months of the 2025/26 season on loan at Orbit College from his previous parent club, Orlando Pirates.

Saleng is one of three January arrivals at Sundowns, alongside Brayan León and Khulumani Ndamane.

Modiba says Saleng is a good signing for the club and hopes he will help the team as he did at his previous clubs. He also added that he would like to see the former Free State Stars player back in a Bafana Bafana shirt.

“He’s a very good signing for us, we know what he can do and what he used to do in his previous teams,” said Modiba on the sidelines of the Nedbank Cup draw as per Mahlatse Mphahlele.

“We know the qualities that he has as a player. Those are the qualities that are going to help us in the team.

“We’ve seen him in the competitions how he has helped the teams that he has played for. He has played in the Champions League.

“He was part of the national team and hopefully he can go back and help us. Very quality signing, he was a surprise for all of us, I was also surprised.

“I’m happy that he’s part of us and hopefully he can hit the ground running.”
