Dithejane ‘can’t wait’ to make Chicago debut

‘I am excited and honoured to join this lovely club,’ said the 21 year-old winger.

Chicago Fire’s new South African winger Puso Dithejane is excited about showing the Major League Soccer side’s fans what he can do.

Dithejane’s surprise move

The MLS side announced the 21 year-old as a new signing on Tuesday, in what was a surprise reveal, with reports suggesting it was Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns vying for his services.

“I am excited and honoured to join this lovely club and be part of something special,” said Dithejane.

“I can’t wait to get on pitch, give my all and and play in front of you. See you soon Chicago.”

Dithejane is the second South African signed by Chicago Fire in this transfer window. The MLS side also signed Bafana Bafana central defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi from Orlando Pirates.

Back in training

Chicago Fire also posted a video of the club’s return to pre-season training on Tuesday, though there was no sign of Mbokazi.

The club are set to begin the new MLS season with a trip to Houston on February 22.
