‘Sundowns Ladies Can Be Challenged’

Posted on January 14, 2026

Former JVW FC coach Janine Van Wyk reckons that it’s just a matter of time before perennial Hollywoodbets Super League winners Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies are challenged.

This comes as the Blue Diamonds completed their most successful season yet in the league finishing second behind Sundowns with 69 points. The side under the guidance of the former Banyana Banyana captain was one of two that were able to get a result from the five-time champions

Speaking to iDiski Times journalist Lethabo Kganyago, Van Wyk gave Banyana Ba Style the respect they deserve as an institution and highlighted that other sides are catching up.

“Sundowns have been incredibly consistent and deserve respect for that,” Van Wyk told iDiski Times.

“However, the gap is closing with the improvement of teams around the league and with clubs like ours strengthening every year.

“I believe their dominance can be challenged sooner rather than later.”
