Mbokazi’s club beat Chiefs and Sundowns to Dithejane

Posted on January 13, 2026

The former Transnet School of Excellence star will play his football in Major League Soccer for Chicago Fire.

The MLS club confirmed the signing with a brief announcement welcoming the 21-year-old to the team, stating: “Welcome to the Club, Puso. We have acquired winger Puso Dithejane from TS Galaxy F.C. of South Africa’s Betway Premiership.”

A SUPERSTAR AT TS GALAXY

Dithejane, who hails from Christiana in the North West, enjoyed an impressive rise at TS Galaxy. At the Mpumalanga club, he first arrived as a right-back before he was converted by former coach Sead Ramovic into an attacking midfielder and winger.

Dithejane registered four goals and six assists in 15 league appearances this season. The output quickly inspired interest from Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.

INTEREST FROM KAIZER CHIEFS MAMELODI SUNDOWNS

Amakhosi were widely reported to be pushing hard for the former junior standout, with TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi previously confirming significant contact from Naturena.

Sukazi revealed that Dithejane had received missed calls from Kaizer Motaung Jr, scout Tera Maliwa, and coach Vela Khumalo. He further said the player’s father had also been contacted by Bobby Motaung.

However, despite the interest, no formal talks were held with Kaizer Chiefs. Sukazi maintained that while Galaxy had no issue with clubs speaking to the player, any deal would have to be concluded directly with the club.

According to SABC Sport journalist Mazola Molefe, Mamelodi Sundowns sent an offer to Galaxy. The Rockets rejected the offer from the Tshwane giants.

Chicago Fire have now moved decisively to secure Dithejane’s signature, beating local competition to land one of the Betway Premiership’s most exciting young attackers.

The move reunites him with fellow South African Mbekezeli Mbokazi at the MLS club.
