Mbokazi’s club beat Chiefs to Dithejane in transfer race

Posted on January 13, 2026

Following explosive reports of Kaizer Chiefs’ interest in TS Galaxy’s Puso Dithejane, new reports say the winger is heading abroad.

The latest news says the 21-year-old from Christiana, North West, is joining Mbekezeli Mbokazi’s Chicago Fire in the United States of America’s Major League Soccer (MLS).

KAIZER CHIEFS AND MAMELODI SUNDOWNS LOSE OUT ON PUSO DITHEJANE

Dithejane, who plays his football as an attacking midfielder or winger, scored four goals and created six assists in 15 appearances this season.

According to SoccerBeat, Chicago Fire have beaten Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns to Dithejane’s signature. “We can confirm that TS Galaxy’s Puso Dithejane will be joining Mbekezeli Mbokazi at MLS side Chicago Fire,” the outlet reported via X.

Meanwhile, TS Galaxy’s club chairman, Tim Sukazi, sparked explosive reports on Amakhosi’s firm interest in their former junior superstar.

Speaking to Inkwenkwezi, Sukazi confirmed he is aware of growing media reports linking the player with a return to Naturena.

Sukazi revealed that he recently spent time with Dithejane, who showed him several missed calls from within the Kaizer Chiefs setup. These included calls from Kaizer Motaung Jr as well as Tera Maliwa, who works as a scout for the club.

Sukazi added that Dithejane’s father also contacted him to confirm that he had received a call from Kaizer Chiefs’ football manager Bobby Motaung. He further revealed that the player had a missed call from Chiefs coach Vela Khumalo.

According to Sukazi, the level of contact suggests that Kaizer Chiefs are still in the process of trying to convince the player. However, he made it clear that Dithejane remains a TS Galaxy player at this stage.

He explained that while Kaizer Chiefs’ Football Manager, Bobby Motaung, had made contact with the player’s father. The family advised him to approach TS Galaxy directly regarding any potential deal.

Sukazi stressed that the club has no issue with interested teams speaking to players initially. But emphasised that any transfer would need to be discussed formally with TS Galaxy.

“At the moment, Puso Dithejane is still a TS Galaxy FC player. If Kaizer Chiefs come to us, we will sit down and listen to what they put on the table. We will take it from there,” Sukazi said.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS REJECTED

Another report from the country’s leading reporter, Mazola Molefe of SABC Sport, revealed that TS Galaxy turned down an offer from big spenders Mamelodi Sundowns.
