Orlando Pirates could grab R27 million in the coming months

Posted on January 10, 2026

Orlando Pirates could earn an additional R27 million by the end of the season if they win both the Betway Premiership and the Nedbank Cup.

The Buccaneers have already secured the MTN8 and Carling Knockout Cup earlier this season and are aiming to sweep all domestic titles.

Currently, they sit at the top of the Betway Premiership, seeking to win their first league title in 14 years.

So far, Orlando Pirates have made R16.8 million from their victories in the MTN8 and Carling Knockout Cup.

Their dominant performances in these two finals have established Abdeslam Ouaddou’s side as the kings of the cup, with eight wins out of ten finals.

The team will resume their PSL matches later this month, aiming to maintain their position at the top of the league standings.

Can Orlando Pirates be stopped?

In defence, the Buccaneers lost their trusted defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi. The 20-year-old has since joined MLS side Chicago Fire after just 10 months with Pirates.

Although Mbokazi is a huge blow, they still have the likes of Nkosinathi Sibisi and Olisa Ndah in defence. The duo were instrumental under Jose Riveiro, but under Ouaddou, they have seen little game time.

Ndah featured during the Carling Label Cup against All Stars but is less likely to start the coming matches. Orlando Pirates are more likely to once again try out Sibisi and Lebone Seema’s partnership in defence.

Without Mbokazi, the Bucs’ defence might be shaky but they should still win games with ease.

Can Pirates win a treble?
