Struggling Chiefs striker moving to Stellenbosch?

Posted on January 10, 2026

Kaizer Chiefs striker Tashreeq Morris is said to be on the verge of leaving Amakhosi, just 12 months since his move from SuperSport United.

The former Sekhukhune United target man has made only 11 appearances for Kaizer Chiefs, with no goals or assists to his name.

GAVIN HUNT TO REUNITE WITH KAIZER CHIEFS STRIKER TASHREEQ MORRIS?

According to iDiski Times’ Sinethemba Makonco, the 31-year-old from Mitchells Plain, Cape Town, is set to make a loan move to the Cape Winelands to link up with his former SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt.

“Kaizer Chiefs striker Tashreeq Morris looks set for a loan move to Stellenbosch FC, iDiski Times has learnt,” the report said.

Morris, after enduring several months without a club, was signed by Hunt at SuperSport in October 2024. He scored two goals in 10 games before a surprise move to Kaizer Chiefs.

The former Ajax Cape Town striker(renamed Cape Town Spurs) signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with Amakhosi from Matsatsantsa, while Christian Saile went the opposite way.

Playing in his professional debut at Ajax as an 18-year-old, Morris famously scored the winner in a 1-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs at the DHL Stadium in 2013.

In the meantime, Amakhosi’s co-coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze are expected to open the door for Morris. Kaizer Chiefs currently have two new traditional center forwards in Etiosa Ighodaro and Flavio Silva as options.

Meanwhile, Morris looks set to provide value at Stellies. The Western Cape giants’ striking department features Ashley Cupido and Muzomuhle Khanyi, both of whom are not traditional box strikers but roaming number nines.
