Downs Youth Coach Set To Join Barker At Simba SC

Posted on January 9, 2026

Tanzanian giants Simba SC are set to rope in Mamelodi Sundowns U19 head coach Kris Bergman.

iDiski Times has learnt that Bergman is set to join Steve Barker’s technical side at the Reds of Msimbazi with the UEFA B holder targeted to strengthen Barker’s side.

Bergman was coached by Barker during his time at Stellenbosch FC back in 2019 before persuading his coaching licenses. He played for several Premier Soccer League sides including Chippa United and All Stars.

The 36-year-old recently won the 2025 Gauteng Development League U19 title with Sundowns after just one season since joining from the Ubuntu Football Academy.

Bergman already said his goodbye to Sundowns which could mean that the deal is closer than before.

Should the deal go through with Simba, he will add to the few South Africans who recently joined the Tanzanian giants including analyst Prinil Deen.
