Sundowns expected to announce three signings

Posted on January 9, 2026

Mamelodi Sundowns have reportedly completed two new signings in the current January transfer window.

The Betway Premiership champions are also said to be pulling strings to beat Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates to the sought-after TS Galaxy superstar Puso Dithejane.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS’ TWO COMPLETED SIGNINGS

According to high-ranking sources, the club known as Kabo Yellow have signed Colombian striker Brayan Leon, subject to an official announcement. The South American’s expected arrival is viewed as a replacement for Peter Shalulile, who has made only 14 appearances this season, mostly from the bench.

Lebogang Mothiba, signed as a free agent after leaving Strasbourg in France, has seemingly lacked the technical quality the Betway Premiership demands. The 29-year-old has so far become an impact option from the bench to chase desperate late winners.

The 23-year-old Brazilian, Arthur Sales, a South African record fee signing for R63 million, was signed as a striker before coach Miguel Cardoso leaned towards using him in deeper positions or wide areas. Sales has subsequently delivered three goals and three assists in 20 outings.

KHULUMANI NDAMANE

Additionally, Sundowns, in an attempt to refresh defence, are believed to have signed TS Galaxy and Bafana Bafana’s left-centre back Khulumani Ndamane.

The Argentine, Lucas Suarez, joined on loan before the start of the season, before returning to South America during the AFCON break.

Sundowns’ only existing left-sided central defender, Mosa Lebusa, 33, is facing an uncertain future. The Welkom-born footballer is in the final six months of his contract with the 2015/16 CAF Champions League holders.

PUSO DITHEJANE TO MAMELODI SUNDOWNS?

According to growing reports, the Tshwane giants are reportedly keen on signing Ndamane’s teammate, Dithejane. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder/winger is having a stellar season. He has banged in four goals and laid six assists in 14 games.
