R57 million domino effect, Dithejane latest

Posted on January 8, 2026

Kaizer Chiefs might feed off scraps after Sundowns landed a marquee target. Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates are linked with ex-Chiefs star Puso Dithejane.

Here are today’s transfer rumours.

Sundowns bag Leon, can Kaizer Chiefs profit?

The Betway Premiership champions have once again flexed their financial muscles with the acquisition of 25-year-old striker Brayan León. The deal will rise to R57 million. León is uncapped for his country. However, he has a handy tally of 78 direct goal contributions in 217 senior club appearances.

What does this mean for Kaizer Chiefs and other Betway Premiership sides? Well, among other things, Peter Shalulile could become available.

Is former Kaizer Chiefs man Dithejane on the move to Orlando Pirates?

This term, versatile 21-year-old Puso Dithejane has taken his output up a notch with four goals and four assists from 12 starts in the league for TS Galaxy. Although Pirates have an abundance of quality wingers, there’s a growing belief that Rele Mofokeng’s long-term future lies away from the club. Dithejane’s ability to play anywhere on the right-hand side or even in central midfield. The former Kaizer Chiefs man is a wanted man, and the Glamour Boys would be furious to see him move to Orlando Pirates.

Kofane punishes Bafana

Meanwhile, 19-year-old Christian Kofane is the name on everyone’s lips after Cameroon’s defeat of Bafana Bafana. Hugo Broos, who coached Cameroon to AFCON glory in 2017, made four changes to his South Africa side, and they didn’t pay off. A formation tweak and a quartet of personnel adjustments weren’t enough to help their leaky defence.
