Orlando Pirates winger Relebohile Mofokeng has discussed his role as “impact player” for Bafana Bafana at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations so far.
Mofokeng, 21, is featuring in his first major tournament, making an appearance off the bench in the second half against Egypt.
However, after last featuring in June for Bafana before the tournament and some early-season struggled at Pirates, Hugo Broos has only used him sparingly at the tournament so far – with Mofokeng insisting he is used to the role, even from his club life.
“I think it forces me to become an impact player,” he stated on Saturday.
“I have always been an impact player from my club, so I don’t think it can be that difficult for me to get used to being an impact player even here.
“I think I know how to read the game, I know how to change the game I must just get used to doing changing the game here.
“No, I don’t necessarily feel pressure [coming off the bench] but obviously when you are a player who wants his team to win, who wants to change the game there will always be pressure.
“But I don’t think I feel it because I come on when the team is already under pressure.
“So I think I should just help the team so they can get what they want.”
Bafana take on Cameroon in their Round of 16 clash at 21:00 on Sunday.
