Ex-Barcelona Star Praises Sundowns – iDiski Times

Posted on December 31, 2025

Former Barcelona midfielder Alex Song has praised Mamelodi Sundowns’ football model, outlining the reasons behind the club’s continued success.

Over the last ten years, the Brazilians have been the standout force in South African football, securing eight straight league championships and winning ten of the past 12 titles.

They have also collected several other honours, including domestic cup trophies, the CAF Champions League, the CAF Super Cup, and the African Football League.

At the FIFA Club World Cup, they were among four African representatives and caught the eye with dominant displays in all three matches, despite failing to progress beyond the group stage.

Song says Sundowns have a clear model and winning blueprint, praising their playing style, solid structure, and long-term planning backed by investment.

“Mamelodi Sundowns have built a clear model and blueprint for success,” said Song, as per the Sundowns Magazine.

“Everything about the Club—from its structure to its style of play—shows long-term planning and smart investment. They have world-class facilities and top coaches.

“It is no surprise they continue to lead South African football and compete fiercely on the Continent. They truly deserve to be mentioned among Africa’s elite.”
