Zwane Gives Zungu Injury Update

Posted on October 8, 2025

AmaZulu head coach Arthur Zwane has provided an update on the injury of key midfielder Bongani Zungu.

Zungu has missed four consecutive matches; his last appearance was the Betway Premiership fixture against Magesi away from home in August.

Zwane says the veteran midfielder has been working on his recovery on the side but will not come back anytime soon.

“We’re waiting for the medical report on him,” said Zwane after losing 3-2 to Magesi in the Carling Knockout Cup Round of 16 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday.

“But he has been working on the side just to make sure that he is ready. But he’s not going to be ready anytime soon.”

Speaking about the Carling Knockout result, Zwane expressed his disappointment at the first-round elimination, stating the team should have performed better.

“It’s disappointing, the danger part of this thing, we can’t keep on saying we are promising,” he added.

“The only thing that gives hope in a tournament like this is when you go to the next round.

“Perhaps if you get to the semi-final, it tells you that next season, you’ll be better than this. It’s a young squad but I still believe we could have done better.”
