Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has played his cards very close to his chest when quizzed if he will field teenage defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi against Lesotho this evening.
Mbokazi,19, could get his second Bafana cap when they face Likuena in the 2025 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein after he played back in an international friendly in June when Bafana beat Mozambique 2-0.
He has been instrumental in Pirates’ defence having helped the side to reach the CAF Champions League semi-final last season for the first time since 2013.
The Pirates defender has had an impressive career growth since making his senior debut in March under Jose Riveiro.
Broos was amazed by his defensive skills but refused to give it away on whether he would play against Lesotho or not.
“I can’t tell you who will play tomorrow,” Broos told the media.
