Why We Signed Nigerian Goalkeeper – Beganovic

Despite already filling up their foreign quota, TS Galaxy head coach Adnan Beganovic has revealed that the signing of Nigerian goalkeeper Kayode Bankole is to create competition in each department.

The 23-year-old was unveiled by the Rockets last Friday arriving on a free transfer. Prior to his move to Galaxy, the keeper had been without a club since August 2025 after parting ways with Remo Stars.

After his side’s 2-1 loss to Magesi FC in the league, Beganovic said he always needs more than one player in one position and believes the acquisition of Bankole will give first choice keeper Ira Tape the needed competition.

“You know he’s actually been with us maybe one-and-a-half months already he trained with us, he has quality,” said Beganovic.

“And then we try to find a second keeper who can be competition for the first keeper. We always try to have two similar players in the same position who can fight for that position. You know, I don’t like when I have only one player on one position and then the players can rest and be a little bit soft on the training session. I want to create competition.

“I think if we have that, we can improve more. We can push both players to improve more in the end, we can improve and to have quality if he trains if he thinks like that and put in hard work.

“We want to push more. And I think TS Galaxy, until now, plays good football. We want to present good football. We always play to score one goal more we want to play like that. Our goal is again to play good football, to play football for one go or more, and then also to produce young players.”
