Why Pitso Mosimane is KAK scared of taking the Kaizer Chiefs job

Posted on October 10, 2025

Pitso Mosimane is never far from the headlines. However, deep down, the great man is afraid of the Kaizer Chiefs job.

There’s no denying Mosimane’s accolades across the globe, but coaching Chiefs might be a bridge too far.

Here’s why.

Kaizer Chiefs fans call for the coach who slapped his own player

Is Pitso Mosimane scared of Kaizer Chiefs?

There’s no doubting Pitso’s acumen as a coach. He’s excelled in South Africa, North of Africa and in the Gulf. ‘Jingles’ is a three-time CAF Champions League winner, scooping Africa’s biggest club prize twice with Al Ahly (2021, 2021) and once with Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016. The common theme running through those two clubs, however, is rich success and dominance this millennium. Kaizer Chiefs, meanwhile, have been a shadow of themselves since their last league crown in 2015. Pitso has always been a supremely confident guy, but does he feel deep down that not even he has the golden touch required to reverse years of bad decisions and inept coaching at Naturena? Failure to win the title with a club of that stature would be a huge stain on his impressive resume, and maybe he’s not willing to take the risk.

Is money an issue?

Bankrolled by Sundowns’ seemingly limitless funds, Mosimane had more wriggle-room in the transfer market. That won’t be his situation at Chiefs where spending power isn’t on that level, and this is assuming they can even afford his considerable wage demands as a coach.

SAFPU and Kaizer Chiefs land a big win

Kaizer Chiefs have landed a massive courtroom win, which might give them more clarity on some playing personnel.
