When is Sekhukhune v Orlando Pirates? Chiefs apply pressure

Posted on January 21, 2026

Orlando Pirates are, all of a sudden, experiencing some scoreboard pressure from Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs. What’s next in the league?

Kaizer Chiefs close the gap to Orlando Pirates

Chiefs clocked up an important win 1-0 against Golden Arrows after the long AFCON break. The result puts them third on the Betway Premiership, two points behind leaders Sundowns and a solitary point behind Pirates, although the Sea Robbers have two games in hand. Next up for the Buccaneers is a trip to Sekhukhune on Saturday, 24 January, with kickoff at 15:30.

Rasebotja issues update on Pirates future

24-year-old Selaelo Rasebotja was signed from the now-defunct SuperSport United. However, injuries and squad competition have limited him to just 11 appearances since his arrival in July 2024.

Speaking to the media at the launch of the 2026 Nedbank Cup, the talented schemer said he was edging closer to a return:

“Right now, I am at a stage where I am slowly being integrated into full training,” Rasebotja responded when asked about his recovery by KickOff.

“It’s also just part of my rehab. After being out of action for such a long time, to slowly getting back to full-team training.”

Meanwhile, Al-Ettifaq, Maccabi Haifa, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Minnesota United and Russian side FC Akron have all been credited with an interest in the player. Mofokeng was forthright about the possibility of exploring his options:
