What we know about Relebohile Mofokeng’s injury

Orlando Pirates winger Relebohile Mofokeng is nursing an injury he sustained during the Mamelodi Sundowns match.

The 20-year-old winger played a full 90 minutes during the Buccaneers’ 4-1 win on penalties over their rivals this past weekend in the semi-final of the MTN8.

Against Orbit College, the Bafana Bafana attacker was not even on the bench as he missed his first match of the season. Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has given an update on Relebohile Mofokeng’s injury following the team’s 1-0 win over Orbits on Tuesday.

“About Rele, unfortunately, I have to discuss with my medical department, they communicated with me that he cannot be part of the game,” Ouaddou said.

“But we still don’t have full feedback on the exam that he should do. I hope it’s nothing serious because we need him.”

Will Relebohile Mofokeng play in Pirates’ next match?

The youngster has played six matches for far this season and is yet to score or provide an assist. Reports have it MLS side Minnesota United submitted a bid of $2 million for Mofokeng earlier this month. The winger has been poised with a move since last year but nothing has materialised yet.

Pirates travel to the Eastern Cape to Chippa United this weekend and it remains to be seen if Relebohile Mofokeng will be part of the travelling squad.

Should Mofokeng leave before the transfer window closes?
