‘We are playing to win the league’ – Kaizer Chiefs coach

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef has admitted that Amakhosi are chasing the Betway Premiership this season.

The team has finished outside the top eight in the past two seasons and has not won the league title in over 10 years. This season, things have been different with the Glamour Boys picking up three wins from their opening three matches of the league.

“We have our targets inside between the players and the technical team,” Ben Youssef said as per KickOff.

Kaizer Chiefs eyeing league glory

“It is written in our meeting room at the Village, and you can ask about it. We know what we have to do and we keep it between ourselves.

“For us, we take it game by game. We don’t think about nothing, and we don’t have any pressure.

“For sure, Kaizer Chiefs is one of the biggest teams in South Africa. If we play in the league, we play to win the league,” he said.

Having won all their league matches so far, Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach admits there’s still a lot to learn. Ben Youssef says the team is currently operating at 60-70%.

“I think there are still a lot of things to make in this team, but until now, let me say we are 60-70%, we are happy about the performance.

“There are a lot of things to continue and with the new players, they will give us more solutions to help the team,” he said.

Kaizer Chiefs yet to concede in the league

“Until now, I think defensively we perform well,” Ben Youssef added.

“We still have something to add in offensive formation to give more solutions and to create more solutions to score.

“I think it is a big difference between this season and last season, and that is the most important for us,” he said.

Will Amakhosi be the team to beat?
