Wasteful Bafana Dumped Out Of AFCON

Posted on January 5, 2026

Bafana Bafana saw their 2025 AFCON campaign come to an end after a 2-1 defeat to Cameroon in the Round of 16 at the Agdal Medina Stadium in Rabat on Sunday evening.

Lyle Foster wasted a glorious chance just three minutes in as his header whisked just inches off the Cameroon crossbar.

In the seventh minute, Relebohile Mofokeng skied his effort from the edge of the box before Samukelo Kabini replicated him moments later.

Despite a dominant display from South Africa, it was the Indomitable Lions who broke the deadlock in the 34th minute as Junior Tchamadeu tapped in from close range to make it 1-0.

Kabini almost pulled one back for Bafana in the 61st minute but saw his effort saved from close range by the Cameroon goalminder.

In the 69th minute, Teboho Mokoena was denied from a free kick while Williams prevented the Cameroonians from making it three on the other end.

Bafana pulled one back in the 88th minute through Evidence Makgopa but it was too little too late as the Indomitable Lions held on to seal passage to the last eight where they will take on hosts Morocco on Friday.
