Wandile Duba’s form and big club’s changes

Kaizer Chiefs forward Wandile Duba has once again made a bold statement, insisting that Amakhosi are targeting a second-place finish in the Betway Premiership.

The 22-year-old striker was on the scoresheet in Chiefs’ 3-1 victory over Orbit College FC on Monday afternoon, continuing his recent resurgence in front of goal.

After a relatively quiet spell earlier in the season, the pacey attacker has rediscovered his form, netting in back-to-back matches. Duba has built a reputation for making confident declarations, notably when he promised supporters the Nedbank Cup title ahead of their semi-final clash against Mamelodi Sundowns.

He delivered on that promise, scoring as Amakhosi secured a 2-1 win over Sundowns before going on to lift the trophy with another 2-1 victory in the final, ending a decade-long drought.

Wandile Duba on target again

Speaking to after the win over Orbit College, Duba reflected on the team’s performance and ambitions.

“I’m very happy. We started the game poorly and only found our rhythm after 20 minutes,” said the Chiefs forward.

“Then we started having more of the ball and got the first goal.

“It’s just about keeping calm. We told each other that we should calm down. We knew our game plan would eventually work, even though it didn’t in the first 20 minutes.”

When asked whether Chiefs are on course for a top-three finish, Duba raised the bar even higher, setting his sights on second place, currently occupied by arch-rivals Orlando Pirates.

“The goal is top two right now,” he added.

“But we have to win all our remaining games. I think if we can do that, we can finish second or at least secure a top-three spot.”

Duba has scored twice in 2026 but having rediscovered his form, the 22-year-old winger is hungry for more and will play a crucial role for the club if Chiefs are to end up in CAF next season.

Will Chiefs finish second?
