Update: New Kaizer Chiefs midfielder

Posted on September 9, 2025

Lebohang Maboe, recently unveiled as Kaizer Chiefs’ latest signing, has taken this FIFA international break to get fully match-fit before making his debut.

Maboe is no stranger to top-flight football after making his name at Maritzburg United in 2017. A product of Amakhosi’s own development system, the 30-year-old midfielder spent seven years at Mamelodi Sundowns before a loan stint at the now-defunct SuperSport United.

But Maboe came full circle last month, returning to the club where it all began.

“I think right now I just want to focus on getting my body back to where I know my body can, you know, sustain the whole 90 minutes, which is not the case right now, if I’m being honest with myself as well,” the Heidelberg-born Kaizer Chiefs star said.

“I just want to work hard during the FIFA break, and let’s see what happens after the FIFA break,” Maboe concluded.

Meanwhile, Maboe, who played 25 times for Mamelodi Sundowns last season, could make his Kaizer Chiefs debut on Tuesday, September 16, at home to Sekhukhune United at the FNB Stadium.
