The league phase fixtures for this year’s UEFA Champions League have been drawn in Monaco this evening.
UEFA changed the format of the Champions League ahead of last season, with the league phase including 36 teams and each team facing eight opponents.
The 36 teams were put in four different drawing pots, based on their UEFA ranking, with each team paired with two teams from each pot.
Paris Saint-Germain won the first Champions League campaign under the new format, beating Inter Milan 5-0.
This year’s Champions League league phase will kick off in September, with the top eight teams of the league phase qualifying for the Round of 16, while positions 9 to 24 will be paired in the knockout phase playoffs.
