Two Chiefs Legends Inducted Into SA Hall Of Fame

Posted on November 17, 2025

Former Kaizer Chiefs duo Doctor Khumalo and Mark Williams were among seven football legends inducted into the SA Hall of Fame on Friday evening.

Khumalo and Williams’ induction saw the number of former Amakhosi greats reach seven after club Chairman Dr. Kaizer Motaung got his induction in 2023, while Lucas Radebe, Teenage Dladla, former captain Neil Tovey and the late Ace Ntsoelengoe were all inducted in 2024.

‘Mdokies’ took time to thank the club in the player they shaped him to be during his playing days.

“I want to express my deepest gratitude to the Khosi family for their support and encouragement,” he told the Chiefs official website.

“I could not have done it without them supporting me every step of the way. Above all, I would like to thank the Chairman for his support and dedication in guiding me through this challenging journey.”

Williams equally thanked the occasion for giving him his flowers while still alive.

“For me and what I went through in my football career, it was a wonderful occasion to be honoured while I am still alive,” he said.

“I have seen many players honoured after they have passed and I think it is important they celebrate legends while they are still alive.

“This was one of the biggest teams I played for and I am celebrating this with all my former Chiefs teammates,” he added.

“I collected, but it was for all of u. On this occasion, I also remember the late Isaac Kungoane, one of my former teammates who schooled me in the culture of Chiefs. I thank all the guys for acknowledging my achievement and their messages.”

Khumalo played in over 400 games for the club while Williams featured between 1996 and 1997 before heading for pastures green overseas.

Overall, seven football legends were inducted in the South African Hall of Fame at a high-profile induction ceremony held at Tsogo Sun Silverstar Casino in Johannesburg on Friday 14 November.

Inductees included: Doctor Khumalo, Janine van Wyk, Mark Fish, Mark Williams, Aaron Mokoena, Clive Barker (posthumously) and Phil Masinga (posthumously).
