iDiski TV analyst Benedict Vilakazi reckons the number eight role would be better suited for Ethan Chislett at Kaizer Chiefs after making his Betway Premiership debut on Tuesday.
The Durban-born midfielder joined the Glamour Boys in July 2025 after his exit from English League One side Port Vale.
Chislett played a major role in the club’s promotion to the English third-tier last season and has been one of the standout players in the English Football League over the past couple of seasons.
The 27-year-old’s first appearance in the black and gold since his arrival at the beginning of the season got off to an impressive despite their shock 2-1 defeat to Stellenbosch FC at FNB Stadium.
He started and played 70 minutes as Amakhosi stayed in fourth position on the log with 30 points from 16 outings.
‘Tso’ said Chislett can be good in the number eight role but more on the attacking side as he showed signs of what he is capable of going forward.
“I like Chislett,” said Tso on iDiski TV.
“I like him because he’s got good touches and he just needs good support. I think he can be a good number 8 for Kaizer Chiefs.
“Not a number 8 that will be more in defensive but a number 8 that can create chances and get to that final third because he also took a shot and made Sage [Stephens] to work.”
Chislett spent his youth career at Guildford Saints, Southampton FC, Aldershot Town and England before his professional breakthrough with AFC Wimbledon in 2020, racked up over 200 appearances in the EFL over the past five seasons.
He scored 42 goals with 16 assists to his name.
