Sekhukhune United head coach Eric Tinkler wants to see young defender Medupi Thokolo remain grounded despite his early impressive performances this season.
Thokolo joined Babina Noko at the start of the campaign following a good run with Motsepe Foundation Championship side Casric Stars last season. He has started all three of Sekhukhune’s matches including the MTN8 quarter-final and has twice been voted Man of the Match in their two league matches.
Speaking after his side’s 1-0 victory over TS Galaxy in the league on Wednesday, Tinkler said he hopes the accolades don’t go to Thokolo’s head.
“Hopefully, the right thing that it doesn’t go to his head you know,” said Tinkler.
“I think that’s the most important thing, that he stays grounded. You know a lot of media attention sometimes doesn’t help your future. So, he needs to stay grounded and that will be my job to remind him of that.”
The former Cape Town City coach was also complimentary towards another new signing, midfielder Miguel Timm for how the former Orlando Pirates man has fitted in the Limpopo side like a glove.
“I’ve worked with Miguel for quite a long time,” added the former Bafana Bafana international.
“And Miguel he’s a great passer of the ball; great distributor of the ball and he just gives you a little bit composure through the midfield.
“So good signing for us.”
