Sekhukhune United coach Eric Tinkler has explained why veteran striker Bradley Grobler was absent from their match-day squad against Magesi FC.
Grobler last featured in the side’s last game away at Marumo Gallants where they picked up a point. Tinkler explained that the absence in the derby win is owing to the forward enduring an accident at home that needed him to have surgery.
Meanwhile, Tinkler also started Renaldo Leaner in goals ahead of Toaster Nsabata and the 26-year-old got a clean sheet as Sekhukhune won 1-0 over their provincial rivals to go to third place on the log with 25 points.
Tinkler was also pleased to have his skipper Linda Mntambo back from a long-term injury.
“We lost Bradley, unfortunately, to an accident at home that he needed to go get a thorn taken out of his foot,” Tinkler answered iDiski Times when asked about Grobler’s absence.
“So, he needed surgery. So, he wasn’t available. And then Linda obviously coming back and wanting to give him a little bit of game time today [Wednesday] he ended up getting 30 minutes. So, it’s good to get him back into the squad.
“And now the importance is that the guys can go home and spend some time with their families on a positive note instead of a negative note.
“So, I said that that’s the importance of today, play for the family, so that we can all go in this festive season and enjoy it.”
