Three key players needed in November

Posted on November 4, 2025

Orlando Pirates have critical matches this November as they aim to top the Betway Premiership standings for the first time this season.

The Buccaneers have won six out of their nine league matches and currently trail leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by just three points, although the Soweto giants have two games in hand. In addition to the league, Pirates are also targeting the Carling Knockout Cup, having already secured the MTN8 title.

On Saturday, they will face Richards Bay in the final, hoping to add another trophy to their collection this season.

Can Orlando Pirates maintain their good form?

This past weekend, the Buccaneers played to a draw against Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld. Despite creating numerous chances, they were unable to find the winning goal. If this trend continues, they could drift further away from Sundowns.

Winning their last four league matches should be their top priority, as well as clinching the Carling Knockout.

Which players does Orlando Pirates need?

Relebohile Mofokeng, Thalente Mbatha, and Tshegofatso Mabasa are three key players the team has missed in recent weeks. In terms of scoring, Mabasa stands out above Evidence Makgopa and Yanela Mbuthuma.

He is nearing 50 goals for the Buccaneers and, if given the opportunity, can score crucial goals for head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.

Mofokeng, on the other hand, has been sidelined due to injury. The Orlando Pirates star is needed, especially for Saturday’s cup match against Richards Bay.

The 21-year-old has a unique ability to break down defensive lines and has been a key player for the Buccaneers for two years.

Can Pirates claim the Carling Knockout?
