‘They said I mustn’t say anything or it’s gone’: Mohau Nkota opens up

Former Orlando Pirates winger Mohau Nkota has opened up about his surprise move to the Saudi Pro League, where he joined Al-Ettifaq.

The 20-year-old made his Premier Soccer League (PSL) debut for the Buccaneers last season and ended up being one of the top players at the club. He scored five goals across all competitions in 39 matches and was instrumental in helping Pirates reach the semi-final of the CAF Champions League.

The youngster joined Saudi outfit Al-Ettifaq in July while the club was in Spain for their pre-season.

During his time at Pirates, Mohau Nkota enjoyed a good partnership with Relebohile Mofokeng on the flanks.

“He (Mofokeng) was happy for me. He said go; I talked to him about it after they announced, I sat with him on the bus,” Nkota told the Sports Night Amplified.

“They announced after a friendly game we had in Spain, we went into the bus, and when everyone took out their phones, they were surprised.

“[My new club] said to me I mustn’t say anything [about the move] because if I tell one, it’s gone,” he added.

Nkota was seen sitting in the stands during Orlando Pirates’ MTN8 semi-final match against Mamelodi Sundowns with his former teammates, as the Buccaneers managed to secure a late draw in the first leg.

Will Nkota succeed in Saudi?
