There’s Lack of Respect – Kaze Fires Back at Critics

Posted on January 21, 2026

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has responded strongly to ongoing criticism surrounding his and Ben Youssef’s leadership at the club.

Kaze was speaking after guiding Amakhosi to a 1-0 victory over Golden Arrows in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday at the FNB Stadium.

He was asked about persistent concerns regarding their leadership since previous head coach Nasreddine Nabi left the club earlier this season.

Kaze firstly said the club’s management trusts and supports as they continue to spearhead the team.

The Burundian coach accused outsiders, including coaches and media, of stirring unnecessary speculation, describing discussions about the Chiefs coaching position while they are still in charge as disrespectful.

Kaze concluded by saying that by the end of the season, their critics will have no choice but to apologise.

“I don’t feel that I’m not trusted, I feel that I’m very supported in the team with the management, players and all colleagues that working with us,” said Kaze.

“But sometimes, I feel like it’s outside people that try to create things. Sometimes, there’s lack of respect when people talk about the [head coach] position when there’s a coach already, saying, ‘I’ll make them champions’

“When you look at the coach, who’s talking about that, he’s never done that  before. Sometimes, even the journalists speaking about those two co-coaches. It’s like they don’t know their names.

“We know what we’re doing, we are qualified. I’m giving you the end of the season, I’m pretty sure everyone will apologise.”

Chiefs are currently third in the league standings with 27 points after 14 matches so far.
