Tau Grabs Assist At New Club, Earns Plaudits From Coach

Bafana Bafana forward Percy Tau grabbed a cool assist on his official debut for Nam Định as they secured a resounding 3-1 success over Ratchaburi in the AFC Champions League 2.

Tau made a surprise switch to the Vietnamese outfit on a free transfer in August. The 31-year-old attacker signed a one-year deal with an option to extend and was joined by South African compatriot Njabulo Blom.

Tau was given a starting berth and didn’t disappoint as he provided an assist for his side’s second goal in the 51st minute before they romped to the emphatic win.

After the match, coach Vu Hong Viet made special mention of the South African international hinting that more game time will come for him.

“Today’s match was really good,” Viet said, according to Giáo dục và Thời đại.

“I believe the game had very high technical quality, and we were lucky to come away with the win.

“In today’s match, every one of our players played very well & gave their best. I especially value contributions of the foreign players – Mitchell Dijks, Caio Cesar, Percy Tau, and Brenner – they were outstanding.

“Percy Tau performed so well. We’ll consider giving him more opportunities in the V-League.”
