Kaizer Chiefs’ pursuit of Manqoba Mngqithi continues to develop, with new clarity emerging around the ongoing talks.
Initial reports indicated that the Golden Arrows coach’s camp had entered early discussions with Amakhosi, and that position has now been reinforced with further details.
Importantly, it has now been confirmed that conversations between the two parties are not new and have been ongoing for some time.
KAIZER CHIEFS TALKS CONFIRMED
Innocent Mkhize, the untouchable Amakhosi source, has since added further context to calm speculation around the situation.
Following a backlash from a section of an anti-Manqoba brigade, Mkhize responded by urging people not to be overly sensitive. He clarified that no one had stated that Manqoba Mngqithi is a Kaizer Chiefs coach or that he will join the club, describing that as a false narrative.
He explained that while he had previously hinted at major developments, he can now confirm that talks are indeed taking place, adding that discussions between the parties began as early as December.
“He was supposed to join Kaizer Chiefs in January but boss lady declined that move but he (MANQOBA) doesn’t have problems of joining Amakhosi I’m told.”
This confirms that while no deal has been finalised, engagement between the two sides is real and dates back several months.
MANQOBA MNGQITHI PROFILE FITS AMAKHOSI
Mngqithi’s profile continues to align with what Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be looking for. His CV includes multiple league titles and CAF Champions League success during his time at Mamelodi Sundowns.

At Golden Arrows this season, he has built one of the league’s most effective attacking sides, currently the third-highest scorers with 28 goals in 22 matches, behind only Orlando Pirates and Sundowns.
His impact was already evident last season when he guided the team away from relegation danger after taking over in March.
With eight matches remaining in the current campaign, Arrows sit in eighth place, reflecting steady progress under his leadership.
