Swedish coach expresses his interest in Kaizer Chiefs

Posted on September 19, 2025

Swedish coach Melke Alan has expressed his interest in coaching Kaizer Chiefs, especially with Nasreddine Nabi not being part of the squad.

On Friday, Amakhosi released a statement indicating that the Tunisian coach would not travel with the team for their CAF Confederation match on Saturday.

In an interview with Soccer Laduma, Alan stated that his coaching philosophy and experience would be a valuable asset for the Chiefs.

“I do believe that a team like Kaizer Chiefs is very unique in terms of what they have achieved in South African football,” he was quoted by the publication.

Will Kaizer Chiefs hire a new coach?

“That is something that a coach needs to respect and build from. I understand that for a coach to succeed at a big club like that, one has to do the right analysis. If you are a good analyst, you can produce the right results, but if you fail to read situations correctly, then chances are you will make wrong decisions.”

Kaizer Chiefs have had close to 10 coaches in the past decade and have only won a single trophy. Alan explained why coaches’ philosophy and principles should be clear to create a winning culture.

“You cannot only practise defence or only offence – you must work on transitions too,” he said.

“The principles must be clear so that everyone in the team understands their role. This creates confidence and builds a winning mentality. As a coach, you have to bring everyone with you – staff, players, and the club – because it doesn’t work if people are divided.”

With Nabi’s future uncertain, it remains to be seen if Kaizer Chiefs will look for a new coach. According to multiple reports, the Tunisian tactician is as good as gone.

Do you think Amakhosi should look for a foreign coach?
