Sundowns to announce PSL striker?

Posted on January 28, 2026

You might remember Mamelodi Sundowns’ hot interest in signing Ah Shene before the start of the season.

The latest report has revealed that the move is expected to conclude before Thursday night’s January transfer window.

CAPE TOWN CITY FC TO TRANSFER JODY AH-SHENE TO MAMELODi SUNDOWNS?

After three goals in 26 games for City, as well as five in 11 for South Africa’s U-20 national side, Ah Shene’s potential has convinced Sundowns to make a move.

According to Mazola Molefe, the 20-year-old striker from Ocean View, Cape Town, is on his way to Sundowns.

“SABC Sport can confirm that Jody Ah Shene’s long-anticipated move to Mamelodi Sundowns is back on track, with the transfer expected to be finalised before the close of the PSL registration window on Thursday night,” Molefe reported.

The report added to confirm that Sundowns and Cape Town City agreed on Ah Shene’s transfer in September, but the move was delayed to allow him more game time and improve his chances of making South Africa’s U20 World Cup squad.

The deal has now been revived, with the attacker expected to join Sundowns and go out on loan to AmaTuks.

EXISTING OPTIONS AT CHLOORKOP

Meanwhile, Sundowns have strong depth in the striker department with a balance of experience and emerging talent.

Peter Shalulile (32) remains the senior, while Iqraam Rayners (30) and Lebo Mothiba (29) provide reliable competition. Brayan León (24) has arrived from Colombia to deliver immediate impact with two goals in three games. Bennett Mokoena (18) also represents a promising long-term prospect.

Meanwhile, Arthur Sales (24) has been moved into wider and deeper roles.
